ALEXANDER FRANK was born in 1980. He grew up in the Rhinegau region and resided some time in the USA and in Switzerland. He holds a Masters degree in Political Science, Cinema Studies and Media Studies from the University of Zurich. In context of his practical training, he studied acting methods, script analysis and rehearsal techniques with Judith Weston in New York, with German director Andreas Dresen, Clown Dimitri and Keith Johnstone. Former teachers also include Jana Niklaus (voice technique), Steve Jarand (trance mask), Liane Jessen (script analysis) and Robert McKee (story structure).

Film
He originally started his film career in 2002 as an assistant director trainee at the German crime series »Ein Fall für Zwei«. Since then he has been working continually as script supervisor and assistant director on several film and TV productions. In 2008 he was invited to the Berlinale Talent Campus as a directing talent. Here, he wrote and directed his most recent shortfilm »The String Puppet«, which was nominated for the German Human Rights Film Award the same year and presented to a wide audience at several festivals.

Theatre
While attending university, Alexander was a directing apprentice for the productions of »A Clockwork Orange« and »Emilia Galotti« at the Schauspielhaus Zürich and he worked as assistant director at the Junges Schauspielhaus Zürich – the youth devision of the theatre.

Starting in 2009 he takes a post as resident assistant director at the Schauspiel Frankfurt.
